Welcome to Helperbird 80.0.0 👋

October is one of the most important months of the year here for us at Helperbird.

This month is Dyslexia awareness month.

Helperbird's founder Robert James has dyslexia and made it his mission to help others. We have huge things to announce this month, from our iPad app to our Google Forms add-on.

Helperbird is known for its dyslexia support, the Helperbird team likes to think Helperbird helps everyone from all walks of life and needs. We are releasing our highly anticipated iPad, iPhone, and Safari app this month (Check out below for screenshots).

I would also love for everyone and anyone to review us on the Chrome store, to help us spread our mission.

So what's new in Helperbird 80.0.0

Our brilliant new OCR tool.

Our old version of our OCR tool was good. This new version is a whole new experience. We have rebuilt it from the ground up, allowing you to read the extracted text, save it to your notes but most importantly you can now run the OCR tool on PDFs, the whole page, and every document in the browser.

Check out the video below.

Keyboard shortcuts

You can now access the OCR, Immersive reader, Reader mode, Annotate any page and now pause Helperbird with quick and simple shortcuts. Visit the Helperbirds settings page to see the shortcuts.

Fixed: You can now read whole pages.

You can now read full pages of text without it cutting off. It was a nasty bug but it is a built-in issue from the Chrome browser. The good news is it is fixed.

Improved accessibility descriptions.

We went through the app and wrote better alt and title descriptions to across the app.

PDF support

Our PDF reader has been rebuilt, all features but the text formatting now works in the PDF reader, do remember to check it out.

Quick actions

We added the Reader mode, OCR, Immersive reader, notes to our quick action area. Making it quicker than ever to access the most popular tools.

What else has changed?

We have removed our Google docs toolbar.

You will need to install Helperbird's Google add-on here. To get full support.

The app is 60% faster

We truly mean that too, not just a figure. Its quicker, to load, lighter on website and overall quicker.

The Google add-on adds Forms support.

The Google add-on now support Google forms. This is a dream come though for all 80,000 add-on users.

Helperbird for iOs (iPhone, iPad and macOs)

This is the next big step for Helperbird. Our iPhone, iPad and macOs extension. Its a one to one rebuild of the extension, all your favioute features are there. From the immersive reader, reader mode, text to speech, you name it.

BTW, its coming this month!
