Helperbird on iPad comes from the App Store as an app that carries a Safari extension.

The install is the same one an iPhone user follows. What differs on an iPad is who is allowed to install it, and where Helperbird turns up in Safari.

Install It from the App Store

One listing, Helperbird for Safari, covers iPad and iPhone. Open Helperbird for Safari in the App Store (opens in a new tab) and tap Get. Your iPad needs iPadOS 15.0 or later.

For the install screen by screen, and for what the app does once it is on your home screen, read how to download Helperbird for iPhone.

If Someone Else Manages the iPad

A school or work iPad. Your IT team installs the app through their device management tool. In most setups they cannot switch the Safari extension on from there, so someone still has to turn it on from Settings on the iPad itself. If the Helperbird toggle is greyed out, that is the limit you have hit: why the Safari extension is greyed out on iPad. Teachers and students: Helperbird on iPad in the classroom.

A child's iPad. Screen Time restrictions can block the App Store install before it starts: installing with Screen Time on.

A Pro key from a school. A key cannot be pushed to an iPad the way it can to Chrome, Edge and Firefox, so somebody enters it on each iPad in Helperbird's settings in Safari: how to unlock Helperbird Pro.

Where Helperbird Appears on iPad

Nothing shows up in Safari until the extension is switched on in the Settings app. Follow how to enable Helperbird in Safari.

Then open Safari on any page, tap the puzzle piece icon in the address bar, and tap Helperbird. On iPhone the same menu sits behind the aA button.

The features live in the extension, not the app. Which ones you get on an iPad: what is different about Helperbird on iOS. What to do next: how to use Helperbird on iPhone and iPad.

has been a vast help and I fully ...

I purchased this for my daughter who has been having a lot of difficulty accessing the online work set remotely by her teachers during our National Lockdown because of Covid-19. Her dyslexia was really hindering her ability to complete tasks and keep up which in turn led to increased anxiety levels...a really horrid place to be in during a global pandemic! Helper bird has been a vast help and I fully recommend it and wish more schools knew about it. Thank You Helper Bird.

makes reading text heavy web page...

Helperbird offers a wide range of customization in one easy to navigate spot. Computers and dyslexia don't always mesh, the features like ruler makes reading text heavy web pages easier. Tech support is amazingly responsive should you need any help.
