How to Install Helperbird Through the G Suite Admin Panel

Managing Chrome or ChromeOS from the Google Admin console? This is your route.

Before You Start

You need administrator access to the Google Admin console, and Helperbird's Chrome extension ID:

That ID is for Chrome only. Edge and Firefox use different ones, listed on force install Helperbird.

Add Helperbird to an Organizational Unit

1. Sign in at admin.google.com (opens in a new tab).
2. Go to Devices → Chrome → Apps & extensions → Users & browsers.
3. Pick the organizational unit you want to cover.
4. Click +, then choose Add from Chrome Web Store.
5. Search for Helperbird, or paste the extension ID above.

Settings apply to the unit you picked. A child unit can override its parent, so check you are on the right one. See how to set up a child organizational unit if you want a smaller group to get different settings.

Set the Installation Policy

Click the Helperbird tile, then set Installation policy:

• Force install installs it for everyone in the unit, and they cannot remove it.
• Force install + pin to browser toolbar does the same and puts the icon in the toolbar. See how to force pin Helperbird.
• Allow install makes Helperbird available without installing it. See install Helperbird for specific users.

Click Save.

Tip: Try it on a test organizational unit with a handful of accounts before you roll it out to everyone.

Push Your Subscription Key

Force install gives everyone Helperbird Free. To turn on Pro, stay in the Helperbird tile and find Policy for extensions. Paste your policy there and save:

isAdminControl has to be true or the rest of the policy is ignored, your key included. You can also turn features off, keep Helperbird off certain sites and show the Floating Toolbar from here. Every key is listed on setting Chrome storage managed keys.

Check It Reached a Device

Sign in to Chrome on a device in that organizational unit. Helperbird should be in the extensions list, marked as installed by your organization.

Policy changes are not instant. If it is not there yet, open chrome://policy and click Reload policies, or sign out and back in on ChromeOS. When it still will not appear, work through verify and troubleshoot a managed deployment.
