Accessibility Profiles — One Click Setup

We've always believed that accessibility should be simple. Not complicated. Not buried under dozens of settings. Just simple.

That's why I'm thrilled to share something we've been working on: Accessibility Profiles.

What Are Accessibility Profiles?

Think of them as preset configurations for Helperbird. One click, and you get everything you need for your specific accessibility needs. Whether you have dyslexia, ADHD, low vision, or just want to make reading more comfortable, there's a profile for you.

No hunting through menus. No guessing which settings to enable. Just click, and you're good to go.

The Profiles We've Built

Dyslexia Profile This one's close to my heart. It enables our dyslexia-friendly font, adds background colors to help with visual tracking, turns on a reading ruler to keep your focus on one line at a time, and enables text-to-speech. It also adjusts letter spacing and line height for easier reading.

ADHD Profile Helps with focus and reduced cognitive load. We enable reading mode to strip away distractions, turn on line focus so you see only what you need, add a reading ruler, and enable text-to-speech for audio processing.

Low Vision Profile Increases text size, boosts contrast, enables our color overlay feature to reduce brightness, and turns on reading mode to minimize visual clutter. Everything's designed to make text easier to see.

Reading Comfort Profile Sometimes you just want a more pleasant reading experience. This profile creates a calm environment with a reading ruler, optimized line height and spacing, text-to-speech, and a comfortable background color.

Motor Accessibility Profile For users with motor accessibility needs, we focus on reducing the need for precise clicking. We enable voice control support, increase button sizes, and streamline the interface to minimize repetitive actions.

Section 508 Profile Built for compliance. This profile ensures your setup meets accessibility standards including keyboard navigation, screen reader optimization, proper color contrast, and focus indicators.

Why This Matters

Before Accessibility Profiles, setting up Helperbird meant going into preferences, finding each setting, and turning on what you needed. It might take ten minutes. For some people, that's ten minutes of struggling with an inaccessible interface just to access accessibility tools. That's backwards.

We wanted to flip the script: accessibility should be immediate. You shouldn't have to work for your accommodations.

Real-World Scenarios

Meet Alex, a high school student Alex has dyslexia. On her first day using Helperbird, she clicks the Dyslexia Profile. Instantly, her fonts change, colors adjust, and her reading ruler appears. She goes from struggling with online assignments to actually getting through them. One click changed her school day.

Meet James, a software engineer James has ADHD. His job involves reading documentation and code all day. The visual noise is overwhelming. He activates the ADHD Profile during his morning standup. Suddenly, everything's focused. He can concentrate. His productivity shoots up.

Meet Maria, a parent Maria's daughter struggles with low vision. Instead of downloading separate tools or hunting for settings, Maria opens Helperbird, clicks the Low Vision Profile, and her daughter's entire digital world becomes clearer. It takes seconds.

How to Get Started

It's honestly simple. If you're using Helperbird, look for the Accessibility Profiles in the main menu. You'll see all six profiles displayed clearly. Click the one that fits your needs. Your settings update instantly.

Want to customize further? You can. But most people find that the profile does exactly what they need right out of the box.

Building for Everyone

This feature came from listening to you. Our users told us that setup was a barrier. They told us they wanted faster access to their accommodations. They wanted to focus on their work or studies, not on configuring tools.

So we built Accessibility Profiles with that feedback in mind.

Try It Yourself

Head over to helperbird.com and check out the profiles. Whether you're looking to make reading more accessible, reduce screen fatigue, or just explore what Helperbird can do, we think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much one click can change.

Because here's the truth: accessibility isn't a luxury. It's a necessity. And it shouldn't be complicated.

Have feedback on Accessibility Profiles? We'd love to hear from you. Drop us a line or let us know how the profiles are working for you.
