What This Does

You can take your writing out of the Notepad as a file, in one of four formats, so you can hand it in, email it, or keep it somewhere else.

Who is This For?

This is helpful for:

  • Students handing an assignment in as a Word document
  • Anyone moving their writing into Google Docs to share it
  • Anyone who wants a copy that does not depend on the browser
  • People keeping a backup before deleting a document

Step 1: Open the Options

Click Notepad options in the toolbar. It is the download arrow, to the right of My Notes.

The button is labelled "Notepad options", but what it opens is the download list. There is no separate settings panel behind it.

Step 2: Pick a Format

Choose the one you want.

Which Format Should You Pick?

  • Word keeps your headings, bold, lists and colours. Pick this for anything you are handing in or sending to someone who uses Word.
  • Google Docs is the one to pick if you work in Google Drive or need to share the document with classmates.
  • Markdown keeps the structure as plain symbols. Useful if you write for the web or use a notes app that understands it.
  • Text file is your writing with all formatting stripped out. The safest option if something else will not open, and the smallest file.

If you are downloading to keep a copy before deleting the document, Word or text is the sensible choice.

This is a great little extension, lightweight and non intrusive. With dyslexia its reading that's an issue, not the underlying intelligence. An aid such as this one, can help deliver the world to some who may not otherwise have received it. Great Work.

They were super fast with response time when helping me meet a deadline and very kind when corresponding. If the app is anything like their customer service then I am happy with my purchase!

Amazing Extensions in chrome. I Installed in my parents computer, because my dad have a poor vision, due to bad eye surgery. this extension really helps to have able to manipulate the font and font size for more comfortable use instead of chrome zoom feature. Because the chrome zoom feature is its overly zoom will cause the page looking super weird.
