How to Use the Helperbird Admin Dashboard

What each panel on the Helperbird admin dashboard counts, where the numbers come from, and what the dashboard deliberately does not record about your users.

·

  • admin

The admin dashboard tells you how widely Helperbird has been taken up across your school or district. This guide explains what each number means.

Do not have a dashboard yet? See how to access the usage dashboard.

What Each Panel Counts

Each panel on the dashboard and what its number counts.
PanelWhat it counts
Active InstallsHow many people in your organization currently have Helperbird
Yearly BreakdownActive users, total views and overall adoption for the current year
Last WeekNew installs and uninstalls over the past 7 days
Last 14 DaysNew installs and uninstalls over the past two weeks
Last QuarterNew installs and uninstalls over the past 90 days
Recent UsersThe most recent users, listed by organization domain

Recent Users tells you which schools and organizational units the installs are coming from. It lists the domain, not the person.

Active Installs is the panel most people want. Read it as "how many devices have Helperbird on them", not "how many people used it today".

Where the Numbers Come From

Someone is counted when they visit helperbird.com with Helperbird installed. Nothing is sent from inside the extension while a person browses.

Removals are counted at the other end. When someone uninstalls Helperbird, their browser opens a short Helperbird survey page, and your organization domain travels with it. That is what fills the uninstall figures.

What the Dashboard Does Not Show

No feature usage. There is no breakdown of which Helperbird features are used most, and there never has been. The extension carries no analytics, which is why our Privacy Policy says no usage data is collected.

No per-person activity. The dashboard does not show how many times any individual has used Helperbird. Nothing in the extension counts that.

No names. The Recent Users panel lists organization domains.

The numbers are approximate. A person who has Helperbird but never opens our website may not appear. Treat every figure as a floor for how many people have Helperbird, not as a license audit, and say so when you put one in a report.

Licenses Are Not Managed Here

The dashboard reports adoption. It does not assign or revoke access.

Helperbird licenses are pushed with your subscription key through Google Admin console or Microsoft Intune. Add or remove a person from a licensed organizational unit or device group and their access follows, with no step inside Helperbird.

an absolute lifesaver

This extension has been an absolute lifesaver. I have that fantastic combo of ADHD and Dyslexia while trying to go through college. I have difficulty keeping letters in order, seeing the gaps between words, and with ADHD on top, I lose focus A LOT. The immersive reader has been my new best friend. It drowns out the rest of the content on the page, changes the font to something I can read, and highlights the word as it reads to me. My eyes are forced to keep going in the right direction. I can slow down and pay attention to what I'm reading. I don't even have to go back and read the same paragraph 5 times to understand it! The screen overlay has been outstanding for eye strain and being able to distinguish between words and spaces. The custom font and spacing for research articles have been an enormous advantage! I can actually read the research papers now and not have this daunting 2 column fine print page to squint over. All around, this has been the best purchase I've ever had. I use this every day, with every assignment. I don't even struggle with story-based questions anymore. The immersive reader helps me read, listen, and understand the question all at once. I am still exploring what I can use this with and how it can make my academic career, and I keep getting impressed with every new way I find to use it. Seriously, try it out. You won't regret it at all. Even if you don't have dyslexia or ADHD, just try it out. You might find that it helps you understand the content you're trying to learn even better!
