How to Use Helperbird on Android with Microsoft Edge
Learn how to install and use Helperbird on your Android phone or tablet using Microsoft Edge. Access text to speech, dyslexia fonts, OCR, and more on the go.
What You Need
- An Android phone or tablet
- Microsoft Edge browser (version 125 or later)
- Edge supports extensions on Android, which is how Helperbird works on your phone
Step 1: Install Microsoft Edge
If you do not have Edge installed, download it from the Google Play Store.
Step 2: Enable Helperbird
- Open Microsoft Edge on your Android device
- Tap the three-dot menu at the bottom of the screen
- Tap Extensions
- Search for Helperbird and tap Get
- Tap Add to install the extension
Edge will download and enable Helperbird automatically.
Step 3: Open Helperbird on a Website
- Go to any website in Edge
- Tap the three-dot menu at the bottom of the screen
- Tap Extensions
- Tap Helperbird to open it
Helperbird will appear as a panel over the page.
Step 4: Use Helperbird Features
You can use the same features as on desktop, including:
- Text to Speech — Have any text read aloud
- Extract Text (OCR) — Point your camera or select an image to pull text out of it
- Dyslexia Fonts — Switch to a more readable font
- Color Overlays — Reduce eye strain with a tinted overlay
- Reading Mode — Strip away clutter and focus on the content
- Immersive Reader — Use Microsoft's reading tool
Tap any feature to turn it on. Your settings are saved automatically.
Step 5: Sign In to Pro
To unlock all features, sign in with your email or subscription key:
- Open Helperbird from the Extensions menu
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Settings
- Tap Subscription key
- Paste your key and tap Save

Tips
- Pin Helperbird — In the Extensions menu, tap the pin icon next to Helperbird so it appears in your toolbar for quick access
- OCR on the go — The Extract Text feature is great for reading printed text in the real world, like signs, worksheets, or textbook pages
- Offline features — Font changes, overlays, and reading rulers work without an internet connection
