Helperbird Settings Not Syncing Between Devices
Fix Helperbird settings that are not reaching your other devices. Check both sync switches, the browser profile, and what to do when notes stay behind.

- troubleshooting
Settings travel only when two switches are both on: your browser's sync switch, and Helperbird's own Sync setting. Work through these checks in order.
Check Both Sync Switches
Most reports come down to one of these sitting off.
Your browser's sync. It has to be on, with Extensions included in what syncs. Extensions sitting off while sync is on is the most common cause. Chrome and Edge steps: How to Enable and Use Sync in Chrome or Edge. In Firefox, sign in to your Firefox Account and include Add-ons.
Helperbird's Sync setting. If it is off, Helperbird is storing everything on that one device on purpose. Sync or Store Data Locally in Helperbird has the toggle and what each choice covers.
Check both switches on both devices.
Check Both Devices Use the Same Browser Profile
Synced storage belongs to the browser profile, not to the computer. Two Chrome profiles signed in to different Google Accounts keep separate copies, even on the same machine.
Look at the profile picture in the top-right corner of each browser and confirm the same account is signed in.
Give It a Few Minutes, Then Reopen Helperbird
Browser sync is not instant. Wait a few minutes, then close the Helperbird menu and open it again on the other device.
Helperbird reads your settings when it opens, so a menu that was already open still shows the old values.
Notes and Highlights Stayed Behind
If your fonts and colors arrived but your notes, highlights, PDF annotations or reading list did not, that collection is too big for browser sync. Nothing is lost: it stays on the device that holds it.
Delete older items there. Once the collection fits, Helperbird syncs it again on the next save. Why Notes and Highlights Can Stop Travelling explains the limit.
Signing In to Helperbird Is a Different Thing
Your settings sync through your browser, not through your Helperbird account. You do not have to be signed in for settings to travel, and signing in will not make them travel.
If the real problem is Pro features locked on the second device, that is a subscription issue. See Helperbird Pro Features Still Locked and How to Resync Your Helperbird Subscription.
Private Windows and Guest Profiles
Helperbird does not run in a private or incognito window unless you allow it on your browser's extensions page.
A Guest profile does not sync, and it discards everything when you close it.
Still Not Syncing
- Export your settings from the device that has them right. That file is your backup.
- Close both browsers completely, reopen them, and check again.
- If it still fails, remove and reinstall Helperbird, then import your settings file. Do not count on a reinstall pulling your settings back from sync on its own.
