What Happened to the Math Reader

Changed in Helperbird 2026.7.28: The Math Reader is now automatic inside the Screenshot Reader. There is no mode to pick. One capture handles a page that mixes writing and equations, and returns both in reading order.

There is No Math Reader to Find

If you are looking for Math Reader in the list of features, it is not there any more, and you do not need it.

Reading maths is now part of the Screenshot Reader. One capture works out for itself what it is looking at. Draw a box around words and you get the words. Draw a box around equations and you get the equations. Draw a box around a page that has both and you get both, in the order they appear.

There is nothing to switch on, and nothing to choose between.

Why It Changed

The old Math Reader made you say what you were looking at before you had seen the result. You picked words or you picked maths. A worksheet page is usually both, so whichever one you picked threw the other half away.

One capture now reads the whole region and hands back the writing and the equations together.

What to Use Instead

Open Helperbird, expand All Features, open Screenshot Reader, then press Start and draw a box around the maths. You can include the words around the equations.

Screenshot Reader is a Helperbird Pro feature. On the free plan the Start button stays greyed out.
